One of the reasons for the questioning of their accuracy is the reliance on memory which can be influenced by many factors. These factors include trauma; the overlapping distinction between memory and imagination; the desire to present a moral image which depicts events as “black” or “white”; and the desire to present an account which will honor those from the past and educate those in the future among other influences.
