Analysis of the Character of “Don Quixote”
[ send me this essay ]
This is a 5 page paper analyzing the character of Don Quixote including his relationship with Sancho Panza. When Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra wrote “The Adventures of Don Quixote” in 1604 and 1616, he did not have much compassion for his central character’s “impossible dreams”. Despite this however, Cervantes wrote the character of Don Quixote as a combination of a man who was compassionate, chivalrous, independent, pure, true in his friendships and trustworthy while at the same time as being a dreamer, obsessive, imaginative, unrealistic and insane. In his relationships with those around him, especially with his companion Sancho Panza, the reader can tell that Quixote has always been respected and well liked because of the care and respect his friends have for him in their attempt to prevent him from harming himself. Sancho allows for Quixote to live with his dreams originally based on promises made to him by Quixote but eventually in Sancho enjoying in the adventures himself. Overall, the character of Quixote is admired and well liked by the readers who not only enjoy reading of his adventures but realize that he is a man of ideals and high morals during a time when not many men were described as such. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Antunes/Character Development in 2 Novels
[ send me this essay ]
A 7 page essay. Antonio Lobo Antunes, contemporary Portuguese author, writes in a style that is very reminiscent of the psychologically complex novels of Faulkner or Dos Passos. In both Act of the Damned and The Natural Order of Things, Antunes presents perceptually complicated narratives that offer a cacophony of voices through the medium of jumbled interior monologues that encompass, simultaneously, both action happening in the current time and a host of memories. The following examination of these novels focuses on the development of two characters from each narrative, detailing their psychological orientation and the role that they fulfill within the context of each novel. No additional sources cited.

[ send me this essay ]
5 pages. This essay focuses on the social system in Spanish America and how that social system is reflected in the novel Assault on Paradise by Tatiana Lobo. The protagonist, Pedro, has many conflicting thoughts and actions throughout the novel, from his underground resistance days in Seville, Spain, to his love affair with "The Mute" up to his last actions taken in freeing the captured Indians. All of this displays the fact that while his background was very European he was led in directions which would have been considered socially subversive by his peers. Bibliography lists 1 sources.
